Lower Sac Fly Fishing (March, April)
We have sprung into springtime fishing on the lower sac and it has been awesome! We had some incredible springtime weather in late February that produced some great sunny days on the river and some big fish! There have been big hatches of Caddis, PMDs, and Baetis, which has contributed to the good fishing! The flows right now on the lower are hovering around 3200 cfs, which makes this river very wadable if you wanted to hit this river on your own, but the wading access is very limited to spots to fish on this river and the best way to attack this big river is by drift boat. March has rolled in strong and it has started off wet, which is good because February was dry. We still need lots of water and snow to fill our reservoirs and snow pack up! March is usually wet up here in the North State, so if you don't mind fishing some days in the rain, then you should book your trips! Honestly, March and April are pretty incredible on the lower sac and is one of my favorite times of the year to fish this river! So come on out and give your fly rod a good bend!
