Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report
The Lower Sacramento "Lower Sac" is fishing really good right now, and if you have been itching to fish this river, now is the time! The Lower Sacramento River just recently went through a big flush and flow change that bumped flows all the way up to 20,000 cfs but that didn't mess with the red hot fishing too much. But as of last Monday, the flows went back down to 5000 cfs for now, so if you are looking to wade this big river, the flows are perfect for that, but the best way to tackle this river is by drift boat.
April open dates: 4th-8th, 12th-24th
As of April 1st, A small section (5.5 miles) of The Lower Sacramento River will be closed from Keswick dam down to Highway 44 bridge. The reason for this closure is to help protect the endangered winter-run chinook salmon. This is a very small section of river and there is many miles of great trout fishing left open. Here is a map below of the closed section.
